It has been over 2 years since the game Monkey Quest has been shutdown by Nickelodeon. Many people have lost hope for the game, but what I discovered today, is that ANYONE could remake the game, if they have the skills to do so.
How, you may ask. Well, I'm here today to tell you. Recently I have discovered that Monkey Quest doesnt have it Trademarked anymore by Nickelodeon, but I am not sure about the licensing. If Nickelodeon doesn't have a license to it, than anyone can remake the game, but if they still have the license, you could most likely buy it off them so they could found Henry Danger or something.
So, let's say you've got all the licensing and Trademarks. It's time to start programming! You can start by the models (Trees, platfrooms, ext) and turn them into an area that you can move around in, then, get a Monkey rig (Monkey Quest monkey of course) Start animating it and adding code with it, and then you'll get character. Make sure you have all the movements and code needed, because next you try it out on your first created level.
Success! Your monkey can walk around in your area that you have made, now to start adding all the things you see on your screen. (Backpack, MC Store, Weapons, ext) Now it'd look like you're playing the game! Add sounds to everything. (Walking, monkey sounds, music, ext) Make sure it is the sounds from the game. Steve Glowpunk uploaded 98% of the Soundtracks on his channel. Extract the sound effects from other sources or Monkey Quest videos. If your level has no shadows, it's a crossroad, so add NPCs! (I'd recommend Iron Mountain Highway to be your first level) Model all of the NPCs and add them into the game, make sure that you can speak to them. If your level has shadows, model the simplest one first. Let's say you've made a cragcrawler. If you want a magma cragcrawler, you could tweak your original cragcrawler model and make it bigger and add all the magma on it. Same apllies to any other shadows. Soon enough, your level would be finally completed. It's okay to cry a little, just don't wake up your neighbor. Next is optional. You could add clothes, weapons, crafting items, or another level. Me, personally would add about 5 clothing, 3 weapons, and the healing staff. Make sure you code in all the protection and damage it has, including the description. Your next level should connect to the first level you've made. If you were to make Iron Mountain Highway first, you'd probably go for the next 2 crossroads. I'd go Smuggler's Highway. Do the same proccess you did before.
You've finally added a lot to the game. Time to share it with the world! This will give hope to the fans of Monkey Quest. After a very long time, the game would be ready to show to the public. You'd have to buy servers so they could play it, though. And there you have it. You now know how it is possible to remake Monkey Quest!
Personally, I'd make the mid 2013 build of the game, simpily because for me, it was the prime of the game. Also, I wouldn't include any of the Nickelodeon related stuff. (Teenage mutant ninja turtles, Sponge Bob, Power Rangers, NC) But I would of kept the concept of NC, just renaming it to MC (Monkey Cash) This will make it so no Copyright issues accure. Good day sir!
